Traffic Guide

We want the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon to be a great race for our runners but we realize that having thousands of runners on the roads impacts Austinites across the city. The course is designed to minimize that impact and with a little planning and patience, everyone will be able to get around race weekend!

Getting to the Expo

By Car:

If you are going to drive, we strongly encourage carpooling as traffic gets quite busy all around downtown race weekend.

Parking is available on-site in the event center garage, charges may apply.

By Bike:

There are lots of bicycle racks on site so avoid the parking fees and ride your bike!

There are also two Austin B-Cycle stations around the Palmer Events Center available.

By Bus:

Visit for information and schedules on Metro Bus and Metro Rail.

Austin Marathon Morning

Parking in the downtown area within walking distance of the start and finish lines is plentiful. There are numerous free and paid parking garages and surface lots as well as free on-street parking downtown. On-street metered spots are free of charge on Sundays.

Bike Valet

Want to ride your bike? Bike Valet on race morning at 7th and Colorado. The valet will be open from 5am – 3pm! No need to bring a lock the lot will be staffed during operating hours.
