The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K brings together the local and tourism community to RUN AUSTIN, The #1 City in America. The event features a fun course through the city ending with a downtown finish line festival. Participants can celebrate within close proximity to the hottest hotels, restaurants, and shops. Austin Marathon weekend is the perfect running event for locals, visitors and families looking for an unforgettable experience.

Registration is available online until 3 p.m. Saturday, February 15th at the expo unless the event sells out. Remember, all packets must be picked up in person before Packet Pick Up closes on Saturday.

Read Before Registering

The following are prohibited from the Full and Half Marathon course:

  • pets
  • baby joggers/strollers
  • in-line skates
  • bicycles
  • hand cycles
  • any other non-official wheeled vehicles.

(Baby strollers are permitted on the 5K course ONLY.)

Each participant must pick up their own packet at the Health & Fitness Expo.

All official finishers of the Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K will receive a finisher’s medal.

What if I Register and Can’t Race or Want to Change My Distance?

TRANSFER/DEFERRAL/ & REFUND POLICY

High Five Events, the producer of this event, is an operation employing many full-time staff members who work on this event year-round to ensure a fun and safe environment. Almost all of the supplies and services for the event must be purchased well in advance of the actual event date. We have worked hard to ensure there are options available while also being sure we can continue to offer the best quality event year after year.

All registration transfers must be approved and processed through High Five Events and The Austin Marathon. Anyone caught attempting to sell or transfer their race entry/bib to another person through a non-approved process will have said race entry/bib revoked, be disqualified, be removed from the race without a refund, and will be prohibited from participating in any future events owned or produced by High Five Events. Any Persons trying to participate in the event using another participant’s race entry/bib as part of a non-approved transfer will be disqualified, be removed from the race without a refund, and will be prohibited from participating in any future events owned or produced by High Five Events. 

A refund, deferral, or transfer can only be requested up to the deadlines listed on the event website. Requests cannot be processed for an event that has already taken place.

The Austin Marathon Transfer/Deferral/ Refund Policy is subject to change at any time.

Registration Change Options, Policies & Associated Fees

TRANSFER TO ANOTHER PERSON

Participants may transfer their registration to another participant of their choosing for a fee based on the distance. You will need to find the person to transfer to; that person would pay the transfer fee.

  • Transfer does not include distance changes.
  • The owner of the registration is responsible for finding another person to transfer to.
  • For the safety of all participants, participants may not give or sell their entry to anyone as a part of a non-approved transfer.  Transaction fees cannot be refunded.
  • Shirt size is not guaranteed for transferred registrations. 

How it works:
Once the request is approved, the owner of the bib will receive an email with a customized registration link that includes the transfer fee that they will forward to the person they are transferring the bib to. The recipient of the new link will fill out the new registration form and pay the transfer fee.

TRANSFER TO A DIFFERENT DISTANCE

Participants may transfer to a different distance at the Austin Marathon, Half & 5K.  Not available after 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 15.

  • By transferring distances, you will receive the shirt, bib, and any other items associated with your new distance, not your old registration.
  • Price differences between events will not be refunded if transferring to a shorter distance.
  • Once a distance transfer has been submitted, it cannot be reversed. 
  • Shirt size is not guaranteed for transferred registrations.
  • Virtuals start shipping 3 weeks after the event.

Request to Transfer to a Different Distance

Price differences between events will not be refunded if transferring to a shorter distance.

TRANSFER TO VIRTUAL RACE

Participants may transfer their existing registration to the Virtual Event of the race they are registered for. Learn all about the Virtual Event.

TRANSFER TO THE 3M HALF MARATHON:

Race Day is Sunday, January 19, 2025
Participants may transfer to the 3M Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday, January 21. Option not available after 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 18. Once a transfer request has been submitted, it cannot be reversed.

DEFER ONE YEAR

Participants may move their registration to next year if you choose to do so. After the deferral fee is paid there will be no monies due for entry fees when next year’s registration is completed.

5K and Virtual registrations cannot be deferred.

Deferrals are not available after 12/19
Once a deferral is submitted, the decision is final and cannot be reversed. Deferrals cannot be processed after a packet has been picked up.

50% refunds are available for the Full Marathon and Half Marathon through September 12.

  • Any merchandise purchased with the race entry will be refunded.
  • Transaction fees cannot be refunded.
