2027 Austin Marathon Calls on Local Bands to Bring Austin’s Sound to the Course
Local musicians invited to perform along the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K course on February 14, 2027
The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K is putting out the call to Austin’s local music community. Bands and musicians are invited to apply to perform along the course of the 2027 event, taking place Sunday, February 14, 2027.
Live music has long been a defining part of the Austin Marathon experience, bringing the energy of the Live Music Capital of the World directly to thousands of participants as they make their way through the city. For 2027, the Austin Marathon is once again looking for local artists across a variety of genres to perform at designated locations throughout the course.
From the opening miles to the final push toward downtown, on-course bands play an important role in creating the atmosphere that sets the Austin Marathon apart. Each performance gives participants and spectators another taste of the culture, creativity, and personality of the city they are running through.
“Live music is an essential part of the Austin Marathon and one of the best ways we can showcase the city to participants coming from around the world,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of the Austin Marathon. “The musicians along the course bring an energy that runners remember long after they cross the finish line. We’re excited to once again give local artists a stage to be part of that experience.”
Selected bands will be assigned performance locations along the Austin Marathon course and will be compensated for their performances. Local bands and musicians interested in participating are encouraged to submit an application for consideration by December 14, 2026.
With more than 300,000 weekend attendance including nearly 40,000 forecasted registered runners expected across the marathon, half marathon, and 5K, performing on course gives Austin musicians the opportunity to share their sound with a large and diverse audience while contributing to one of the city’s signature annual events.
Austin is known around the world for both its running community and its live music scene. On February 14, those two parts of the city will come together as runners take on the streets of Austin with local musicians providing the soundtrack along the way.
