But the music doesn’t have to stop there!

If you’re craving even more live tunes while you’re in town, be sure to explore some of Austin’s legendary music venues. Whether you plan your musical tour in advance or choose to stumble into a spontaneous live show, each venue offers a unique taste of our eclectic music scene. Dive into these vibrant spots—it’s the perfect way to relax and soak in the best of the city after your race. Enjoy Austin’s lively spirit and make your marathon experience truly unforgettable!

1. The Mohawk

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, The Mohawk has made a name for itself as a staple in the live music scene. This venue hosts an array of artists spanning various genres, from indie and rock to electronic and hip-hop. Its multi-level outdoor space offers a unique concert experience, perfect for those looking to soak in the Austin vibe under the stars.

Located not far from mile 26, this venue is part of the Red River district of downtown.

2. The Continental Club

A South Congress icon since 1957, The Continental Club has a storied history and an intimate atmosphere. It’s a cornerstone of Austin’s music scene, showcasing everything from rockabilly and country to blues and Americana. If you’re looking to experience a piece of Austin’s musical heritage, this is the place to be.

This venue is located Along Mile 1 of the course, as you head up Congress Ave it will be on your left hand side.

3. Antone’s Nightclub

©heyaustinFounded in 1975 by Clifford Antone, this venue is synonymous with the Blues genre and has hosted some of the biggest names in music. Antone’s is not just a club; it’s a piece of musical history. Here, you can immerse yourself in the soulful sounds of the blues and more, making it a perfect evening retreat.

Located just a few blocks off Congress Ave, this venue is an easy walk from the Finish Festival

4. ACL Live at The Moody Theater

The venue boasts exceptional sound and lighting systems, providing an unparalleled live music experience. A visit here is a must for any music enthusiast.

Located on the west side of Congress Ave, you can easily walk here while exploring downtown. Don’t forget to get your photo with the Willie Nelson Statue.

5. Stubb’s

©heyaustinAlso located near the Mohawk and Mile 26, this venue combines two of Austin’s loves—great music and great food—Stubb’s is an outdoor/indoor venue known for its incredible live music and mouth-watering barbecue. 

Stubbs was ground zero for musicians like Joe Ely and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Other famous musicians who would “play for their supper” included Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Robert Cray, George Thorogood, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Linda Ronstadt and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Whether you’re catching a show at the outdoor amphitheater or enjoying a more intimate performance indoors, Stubb’s epitomizes the Austin experience.

6. The Saxon Pub

You can also grab dinner near by at one of the many amazing restaurants that line this portion of Lamar Boulevard.  For over 30 years, The Saxon Pub has been a fixture of Austin’s live music scene, offering a cozy, inviting atmosphere. It’s a place where you can catch live music seven nights a week, ranging from up-and-coming local acts to well-known artists. Its intimate setting is ideal for those looking to connect with music on a personal level.
