The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon Provides Music to Runners’ Ears
27 local bands will provide entertainment and showcase The Live Music Capital of the World
The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k has finalized the lineup for its on-course entertainment for the multi-distance event happening this Sunday, February 19th in Austin, Texas. The twenty-six local bands and National Anthem solo guitarist join the race-day excitement and perform live music for participants along the courses.
“We’re always proud to welcome the wide-ranging sounds of local musicians,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “The energy of live music on course helps to provide motivation to the runners as they run through the different neighborhoods of Austin. They help us showcase The Live Music Capital of the World.”
This year the Austin Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k features the following musicians: Woode Wood, Claude 9, Ruthie Craft & The Conundrums, Brian MacLeod, Grupo Massa, The 4411, Jay Clement and The Sharps, Atlas Maior, Everett Wren, Scott Strickland, Marshall Anderson, Austin Takio, San Saba County, Stove Top Rangers, Kupira Marimba, Inside Out Steel Band, University Baptist Church Choir, Jenifer Jackson & Jon Notarthomas, Shirley Johnson, Austin Thaala, Sammy Foster Bucket Drummers, Scott Collins, Fortune Hearts. The National Anthem will be performed by solo guitarist, Lucas Taylor. The Finish Fest will feature two Austin favorites, Delivery Service and Fusion ATX. The Austin Marathon weekend starts with the Health and Fitness expo at Palmer Events Center on February 17 from 1 PM to 7 PM and on Saturday, February 18 from 10 AM to 5 PM. The expo is free and open to the public. The Marathon and Half Marathon races start at 7 AM on Sunday, February 19th at 2nd and Congress in Downtown Austin. The 5k begins at the same location directly after at 7:45 AM. All three distances finish on Congress Avenue in front of the Capital where participants can enjoy the stacked Finisher Fest. Online registration for the half marathon and 5k is currently available but the 26.2 mile distance has sold out.
