Rules & Course Time Limits

Course Time Limites

The Austin Marathon time limits are set to provide the safest and most positive race day experience.  Participants in all distances will need to be able to maintain the average pace per mile in order to stay ahead of the streets being re-opened.

Austin Marathon = 16 minute pace (7 hours)

Austin Half Marathon = 18 minute pace (4 hours)

5K = 19 minute pace (1 hour)

These times ensure runners are protected from vehicular traffic and have the support they need to successfully complete the race.
The marathon course closes at 2:00 PM. The half marathon course closes at 11:30 AM.

Participants not maintaining the pace to finish within this time will be directed to get onto the sidewalk by race officials and the finish line will not remain open beyond these finishing times.
