High Five Events Staff Picks: Top Gear from The Running Event 2024

in Blog post

The Running Event (TRE) 2024, held from November 19-21 at the Austin Convention Center, was a showcase of the latest innovations in running and fitness gear. Our High Five Events team hit the expo floor to uncover products that not only can help you crush your Austin Marathon training but also add value to your everyday life. From cutting-edge fitness tech to game-changing apparel, here are our top picks from this year’s event:

Stacy’s Favorites:

  • Noogs Nutrition: Stacy was impressed by Noogs Nutrition’s tasty approach to athlete fueling. Their products deliver the energy you need for training while tasting just like candy—but without the guilt!
  • Wahoo Treadmill: Stacy was drawn to the Wahoo Treadmill for its advanced features and smooth integration with popular training apps. As a big fan of Zwift for cycling, she’s excited to pair it with the Wahoo Treadmill for indoor runs—especially when Austin’s summer heat hits 100 degrees!
  • FORM Swim Goggles: For cross-training enthusiasts, the FORM Swim Goggles offer real-time metrics displayed directly in the goggles, helping swimmers monitor their performance without interrupting their flow.
  • Nix Hydration Biosensor: Stacy also highlighted the Nix Hydration Biosensor, a wearable device that monitors sweat levels and provides personalized hydration recommendations, ensuring you stay hydrated during your runs.

Tina’s Top Picks:

  • Fox River Socks: Tina appreciated the comfort and durability of Fox River Socks, which are great for preventing blisters and keeping feet dry during long runs.
  • Noogs Nutrition: Echoing Stacy’s sentiments, Tina also found Noogs Nutrition to be a game-changer for maintaining energy levels throughout training. She described it as “Sour Patch Kids for adults who exercise”—delicious and effective!
  • FORM Swim Goggles: Tina also loved the FORM Swim Goggles for their sleek design and innovative technology. Perfect for novice swimmers, they make it easy to track performance and stay motivated during cross-training sessions in the pool.

Joey’s Choice:

  • Wright Socks: Joey swears by Wright Socks for their double-layer design that minimizes friction, reducing the risk of blisters—a must-have for marathon runners.

Megan’s Must-Have:

  • GOREWEAR Running Jacket: Megan was impressed by GOREWEAR’s waterproof, windproof, and breathable running jacket. It’s perfect for staying comfortable during those unexpected Austin rain showers.

Eleanor’s Essentials:

  • Paradis Sport: Eleanor was a fan of Paradis Sport’s stylish and functional athletic underwear, ideal for both training sessions and casual outings.
  • GoFulo: Eleanor loved how GoFulo combines reflective outerwear with vibrant, cheerful designs, making safety stylish and adding a pop of color to any workout routine.

Emma’s Favorites:

  • Kizik Shoes: Emma loved Kizik Sneakers for their hands-free design, making them easy to slip on and off—perfect for runners on the go.
  • CBL (Creating Brand Legacy): Emma was impressed by CBL’s ability to design and create stunning medals and awards that leave participants feeling proud of their accomplishments. Fun fact: CBL manufactures the iconic belt buckle finisher medals for the Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K!

Emily’s Indulgence:

  • QO Superfood Cookies: Emily enjoyed QO Superfood Cookies, a delicious and nutritious snack option that satisfies sweet cravings without compromising health goals.

John’s Go-Tos:

  • Gooch Goo: John recommends Gooch Goo for its effectiveness in preventing chafing, ensuring a comfortable run from start to finish. Bonus: Gooch Goo is wetsuit safe and uses all natural ingredients!
  • Heat Holders: He also suggests Heat Holders for keeping warm during early mornings or winter runs, providing insulation without adding bulk. Perfect for the morning of the Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K!

Jonathan’s Pick:

  • Hyperwear Products: Jonathan is all about functional training, and the Hyperwear line stood out as a versatile option for enhancing strength, endurance, and agility. Whether it’s weighted vests, resistance bands, or sandbags, Hyperwear offers tools perfect for runners looking to level up their cross-training game.

Jack:

  • Wahoo Treadmill: Jack appreciated the Wahoo Treadmill for its durability and versatility, making it a game-changer for structured indoor workouts. Its compatibility with training apps makes it easy to stay on track, rain or shine.

We hope these staff picks inspire you to explore new products that can enhance your training and race day experience. Remember, the right gear can make all the difference as you prepare for the Austin Marathon, Half marathon, & 5K. Happy running!
