Use data to become a better runner

Testers will run on a professional performance treadmill which offers analysis of their gait patterns. Everyone runs differently, whether that be foot striking pattern, cadence, stride length, etc. The experts at Under Armour Connected Fitness are looking at each individual’s different patterns during walking and running. Maybe one person runs more on their toes instead of their heels, which leads to different footwear recommendations. Perhaps someone comes in with a difference in the length of each step they take between the right and left limb. The experts offer an informative/quantitative approach to better understanding yourself as an athlete better.

During running, the impact of our body striking the ground can be 2-3 times our body weight. It is important to attenuate this shock in the most effective and efficient way possible. The way we run and the type of footwear we use can influence this. Through an understanding of different gait patterns, one can make better-informed decisions about which shoes to purchase or what to focus on during a run. This can lead to increased running efficiency and help reduce the risk of overuse injury.

All testing is done on-site at the Under Armour Austin office and takes approximately 1.5 hours. You will run/walk multiple 3.5-minute intervals in Under Armour running gear. Everyone will run/walk at varying speeds they are comfortable with. Testing may take place indoors or outdoors, weather permitting. You’ll be fitted in the latest Under Armour running gear while learning about your own individualized gait metrics through scientific grade running equipment. Everything you need will be provided. Just arrive in workout gear at your scheduled time.
