RUN AUSTIN® Kickoff Week Announces 60+ Free Group Runs Across Austin
Eight days of community runs kick off training for the 2027 Ascension Seton Austin Marathon and Spurs Austin International Half
RUN AUSTIN® Kickoff Week has announced its 2026 group run schedule, featuring more than 60 free group runs from September 8–15 to bring Austin’s running community together and officially kick off training season.
RUN AUSTIN® Kickoff Week connects runners with clubs, training groups, local businesses, and fellow runners throughout Austin and the surrounding area. With runs happening throughout the morning and evening across all eight days, participants can find a group that fits their schedule, pace, and training goals.
The week marks the start of the training journey toward two of Austin’s largest running events: the Spurs Austin International Half on January 17, 2027, and the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K on February 14, 2027.
“Group runs are such a big part of what makes Austin’s running community special,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events, producers of both events. “Kickoff Week gives runners a chance to try a new group, meet people they can train alongside, and start working toward January and February together. With more than 60 free runs on the schedule, there really is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.”
All RUN AUSTIN® Kickoff Week group runs are free to attend, with options available for runners of different paces and experience levels. Participants do not need to be registered for the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon or Spurs Austin International Half to attend kickoff week.
