Discover Part-Time Roles in the Event Industry for 2025

High Five Events, the parent company behind the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon and other premier endurance events, invites individuals passionate about event production to join a recruitment session for prospective team members on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00am. The event will be held at the High Five Events office in Austin, Texas, and offers an exciting opportunity to learn about joining the team as a part-time staff member.

The session is open to everyone and will provide insights into the dynamic world of event production. Attendees can engage in a Q&A session and network with current full-time and part-time staff, gaining valuable perspectives on what it takes to help bring some of Austin’s most iconic events to life.

“Our part-time staff plays a vital role in the success of every event we produce,” said Dan Carroll, co-owner of High Five Events. “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone curious about the behind-the-scenes work of running, cycling, and triathlon events—or for those simply looking to earn extra income and meet great people.”

No prior event experience is required to apply. Ideal candidates should be ready to work outdoors and on weekends, with part-time staff typically supporting events during the weekend and potentially in the week leading up to the event.

New Partnership Creates Momentum for Weekend of Wellness and Celebration

The 2025 Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K® is excited to announce the Health and Fitness Expo is now presented by PNC Bank. Kicking off Presidents’ Day weekend, the Health and Fitness Expo will be held at the spacious Palmer Events Center on Friday, February 14th, and Saturday, February 15th, before the races on Sunday, February 16th. This year’s expo will welcome attendees from 1 to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

PNC Bank will engage with participants at the expo, host a cheer station along the course on race day, and a celebration photo experience at the finish line. “Through this sponsorship, we will broaden our ability to help the Austin community thrive, creating a positive impact for small businesses, charities, runners, and families on race weekend and throughout the year,” said Steven González, PNC regional president for Austin. “As the presenting sponsor for the Health and Fitness Expo, we aim to enhance the event and support our community in cultivating and sustaining lifelong financial and physical wellness initiatives.”

2025 Ascension Seton Austin Marathon Opens Elite Athlete Program

$20,000 prize purse for Austin Marathon Winners

The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon is accepting applications from elite runners for the 2025 event taking place in Austin, Texas on Sunday, February 16th. Returning for its ninth year, the Elite Athlete Program creates a competitive field of elite male and female runners while discovering emerging talent, pushing the entire talent pool to reach Olympic standards. 

Runners accepted to the 2025 Austin Marathon  Elite Athlete Field will compete for a $20,000 prize purse that will be divided amongst the top five male and female finishers. 

“We had a clear vision for the Elite Athlete Program when we relaunched it eight years ago,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “Since then, we’ve seen the competition reach new heights, with faster overall times, the rise of Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers, and an incredible showcase of talent on Austin’s dynamic and vibrant streets.”

George Onyancha, the 2023 champion, won the 2024 Austin Marathon and once again met the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials Standard qualifying time of 2:19:07. Damaris Areba, the 2023 Austin Marathon female champion, also ran a 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials Standard qualifying time of 2:38:52. John Bowers (1:08:06) and Sarah Jackson (1:18:13) took first place in the Austin Half Marathon. 

Athletes accepted into the Elite Athlete Field must meet the program’s standards. Those that meet standards will receive a comped entry to the Austin Marathon or Half Marathon and Marathon elites are also eligible for standards bonuses. The deadline to apply for the Elite Athlete Program will be on December 31, 2024. 

To be eligible for prize money, athletes must be accepted into the Elite Full Marathon Athlete Program. All athletes are subject to random drug testing pre and post-race.
