Austin Marathon Gives Receives Grant, Unveils New Name

Austin Marathon Gives continues support of various Central Texas nonprofits

Austin Marathon Gives presented by the Moody Foundation, formerly Austin Gives Miles, is the philanthropic program of the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon presented by Under Armour. The new name and logo stem from the growing partnership between the Austin Marathon and the Moody Foundation. Since 2014, Austin Marathon Gives has raised $3.8 million for numerous worthy Central Texas nonprofits. Through their grants, the Moody Foundation has given $1.2 million to the program since 2016. The 30th annual Austin Marathon, owned and produced by High Five Events, will take place on February 14, 2021.

“As our Central Texas communities continue to grapple with the effects from COVID-19, supporting our local nonprofits is more important than ever,” said Ross Moody, trustee of the Moody Foundation. “The Moody Foundation is honored to partner with a program that invites the community to give back to more than 25 local organizations through the iconic Austin Marathon, elevating the impact and reach of our single gift.”

Supporting Central Texas

Austin Marathon Gives will receive a grant from the Moody Foundation for the sixth year in a row. The grant will match donations raised, up to $10,000, for each participating organization. Money raised annually through the program significantly impacts a wide array of local nonprofits. Earlier this year, 25 nonprofits fundraised $702,500 and recruited more than 800 runners. 

“The growth of this partnership has had a tremendously positive impact on the Central Texas community,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “Austin Marathon Gives is proud to continue working side-by-side with the Moody Foundation to make our community a better place for everyone.”

The Moody Foundation, based in Galveston, Texas, has funded projects and programs that better communities throughout Texas. The grant will match Austin Marathon Gives’ donations and has a positive impact on the Central Texas organizations and their specific causes. One of the Moody Foundation’s areas of support – community development – directly aligns with the goal of the Austin Marathon: to better Central Texas. The Austin Marathon is excited to expand the Moody Foundation relationship and knows the positive effects will be far-reaching. 

The Austin Marathon will celebrate its 30th year running in the capital of Texas on February 14, 2021. Austin’s flagship running event annually attracts runners from all 50 states and 35+ countries around the world. The start and finish locations are just a few blocks apart. They are within walking distance of many downtown hotels and restaurants. The finish line is in front of the picturesque Texas State Capitol. 2020 Austin Gives Miles Raises More than $700,000 for Nonprofits

Since 2014, Austin Gives Miles presented by The Moody Foundation has raised $3.8 million

Austin Gives Miles, the Official Charity Program of the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon presented by Under Armour, raised $702,500 for the 29th annual Austin Marathon. Twenty-five Central Texas nonprofits participated in the 2020 Austin Gives Miles presented by The Moody Foundation. Charities recruited 804 participants, elevated their organization’s profile, and maximized the exposure generated by Austin’s premier running event. The Moody Foundation matched each organization’s fundraising efforts, up to $10,000.

“Continuing our partnership with the Austin Marathon allows The Moody Foundation to contribute to numerous local charities and positively affect the Central Texas communities they serve,” said Ross Moody, trustee of the Moody Foundation and chairman and CEO of National Western Life Group. “We worked with the Austin Marathon to elevate our partnership with the goal of furthering our impact and we’re excited to grow our future footprint through the sport of running.”

Central Texans benefit from the growth of the partnership

For the fifth year in a row, Austin Gives Miles was the beneficiary of a grant from The Moody Foundation. The grant matched donations for each organization, up to $10,000. The 2020 grant totaled $250,000, bringing their five-year contribution to $1.2 million. Since 2014, Austin Gives Miles has raised $3.8 million. The money raised significantly impacts Central Texas and the communities the charities serve.

“Austin Gives Miles presented by The Moody Foundation continues to have a significant impact on Central Texas charities through the Austin Marathon and 2020 was no different,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “Our ability and desire to support the community we live in is constantly growing and evolving and we’re already working with The Moody Foundation for 2021.”

Since 2016, The Moody Foundation has contributed nearly $1 million to Austin Gives Miles

Austin Gives Miles, the philanthropic program of the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon presented by Under Armour, introduces The Moody Foundation as its presenting sponsor. The Moody Foundation has given nearly $1 million to Austin Gives Miles since 2016. More than 25% of that total was given to 36 Central Texas nonprofits during the 2019 Austin Marathon. The 2020 Austin Gives Miles presented by The Moody Foundation is already working to increase those numbers and further the positive impact on the Central Texas community. The 29th annual Austin Marathon, owned and produced by High Five Events, will take place on February 16, 2020.

2019 Austin Gives Miles Surpasses $1 Million Fundraising Goal

2019 Austin Gives Miles provides an impactful platform for 36 Central Texas nonprofits

2019 Austin Gives Miles, the Official Charity Program of the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon® presented by Under Armour, raised $1,187,000. The 36 Central Texas nonprofit organizations accepted into the program worked tirelessly to exceed the program’s fundraising goal. They also increased awareness for their organization and recruited race weekend volunteers. Lance Armstrong, charity chaser, was the final participant to cross the Austin Marathon start line. He elevated the program’s profile, helped surpass the $1 million fundraising goal, and passed all but 59 marathoners (3:02:13).

“We were proud to be an Austin Gives Miles Official Charity and use Back on My Feet’s connection with running to raise more than $20,000,” said Scott Merritt, Back on My Feet Austin Chapter Director. “We love seeing the program’s continued growth and the Austin Marathon’s ability to positively impact more Central Texas nonprofits.”

The Moody Foundation’s continued support makes a huge difference

For the fourth year in a row, Austin Gives Miles was the beneficiary of a grant from The Moody Foundation that matched donations for each organization, up to $10,000. The 2019 grant totaled $252,819, bringing their four-year grant total to $963,044. The money raised significantly impacts Central Texas and the communities the charities serve.
